Message from Mrs. Stamer

We are off to a great start at Forest Road. Students had a full week of learning and practicing routines, procedures and following expectations. We will continue on this next week and throughout the school year. It has been great to see the kids at recess hanging out with friends and enjoying lunch together. During the mornings as I walk the hallways there have been circles in place as students get to know each other and build trust.

Hoping everyone has a wonderful three day weekend! Please find time to relax and enjoy time with family!

Reminder: No School on Monday!!

Message from Mrs. Cavaliere

Safety: This week we had two in house practice drills.  Thursday we had a fire drill and Friday we had a shelter in place (aka tornado or severe weather) drill.  Next week during our restructured day time staff will receive further safety training from our partners at West 40.  After that training, more information will come about our lockdown drill.  As always, these safety drills are meant to reduce anxiety by having students be more confident that they know what to do in case of an emergency.

Curriculum Corner

During the first six weeks of school, our primary goal is to build a strong classroom community through intentional Social Emotional Learning (SEL) practices. Teachers across all grade levels have been using SEL time to teach students essential skills for effective communication and collaboration. This includes introducing routines for class meetings and restorative circles, such as using a talking piece to ensure everyone has a chance to speak and listen actively. By focusing on these instructional practices, we aim to create a classroom environment where every student feels a sense of agency, belonging, and competence.
