Message from Mrs. Stamer

One more week and we are off for Winter Break!  This past week we had our winter concert. Watching our students stand up on the stage with all their smiles and singing their hearts out is always one of my favorite moments during the year. Performing in music concerts gives so many students an opportunity to shine. There are always the few that catch me off guard. The quiet ones who really come out of their shells, the ones who get up and sing a solo, the ones who typically are very shy, but during this time…they are ready to shine and show you all they’ve got. A huge thank you to Mr. Tise for all of his passion and great efforts that go into helping all of the students have this great experience.

Although we are having spirit week next week and holiday parties at the end of the week, we will still be moving on with instruction and assessments. It is important for students to continue to get a good night's sleep and have a healthy breakfast before school. I know this is a time for holiday evening events, but keep in mind the rest your children need to be successful at school. Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to our final week of 2023 at Forest Road.

Message from Mr. Ontiveros

As families begin to gather for traditional celebrations and seasonal festivities, it can be a great opportunity to share stories passed down from one generation to the next. Whether it's a picture book, folktale, or favorite past memory, storytime is something that everyone can take part in and enjoy.

My family and I have been establishing a routine with our 11-month-old son and we’re excited to see he’s flipping through pages. We’re also starting to see that he’s developing interests in particular books (mostly ones with pictures of food, ha).

One thing to remember is that there is really no wrong way to sit and enjoy a story. If you and your loved ones are having fun, then it's a worthwhile way to spend time together.

Have a great weekend!

Mr. Ontiveros

5th & 6th Grade CPCFRO - Winter Registration

CPCFRO is an athletics program within D102 that introduces volleyball and basketball to 5th and 6th graders. The program's goal is to introduce the basic skills of each sport, get the children excited about playing, and allow for the inclusion of all kids in our district. All the teams within CPCFRO (Congress Park, Cossitt, Forest Road, and Ogden) are coached by parent volunteers.

While we keep score during the game, we do not keep track of wins/losses... the focus is strictly instructional and for the kids to HAVE FUN!!

The winter session is January-March with teams consisting of separate 5th/6th grade girls' volleyball teams and separate 5th/6th grade boys' basketball teams playing 7-8 games.  All games will be held at Ogden or Congress Park schools.

Registration will open on Friday December 8th and will have a hard close on Friday December 22nd at 6pm. Each player is allowed only (1) MUTUAL friend request otherwise it will not be honored.  There will be NO late registrations allowed.  The cost to participate is $40/player and includes a t-shirt.  Here is the link for registration:  https://www.cpcfroathletics.com/
