Message from Mrs. Stamer

What a great week we had back from Spring Break. Although the weather wasn’t ideal we made the best of it. Students were seeming more awake each day as we progressed through the week.

Next week…

Monday, we have our Solar Eclipse event when we will have a chance to step outside with our buddies for a brief time with special glasses on to see the total solar eclipse.

On Thursday night we will have Success Night from 6:00 - 7:00. We look forward to seeing you and I know the children look forward to you seeing their work and the awesome things they get to do during their day at Forest Road. Have a great weekend!

Message from Mr. Ontiveros

Thank you to the students and teachers who went above and beyond to wish me a Happy Assistant Principals Week. It’s certainly an honor to be making a difference in the lives of our Roadrunner students, families, and staff. Making connections within our community while feeling that I’m positively supporting our students’ Forest Road experience is certainly the highlight of my role each day.

Enjoy the weekend Roadrunner families!

Curriculum Corner

5th grade students have been hard at work in their biography unit.  Students have been using their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to research and present on a famous individual.  Students got to choose a person they would like to learn more about and did extensive research on that person to learn all about their life.  Students then created a poster with the face area left open for them to be able to present in the first person on their individual to their classmates.  The posters will be on display in the 5th grade hallway during success night next Thursday.  Be sure to check them out!

Multicultural Night & Spring Book Fair

You are invited to join us in celebrating the many cultures that make up the Forest Road School Community!

On Thursday, April 18 from 6:00p-7:30pm we will have a wonderful evening learning about and sharing different cultures.  We will also have performances from different organizations and a variety of ethnic foods to sample!

We need as many families as possible who would be willing to set up a display table to represent their country of origin or culture. Come share what makes your ethnicity or culture interesting and unique!  Also, feel free to sign up for a country that has already been chosen - it will be lovely to see how families celebrate the same culture differently!

Not sure what to display? Some samples of items that have been displayed in the past: food/candy, recipes, statues, dolls, currency, clothing, music, games, art, postcards, books, jewelry, and pottery.  This is your display, you can be as creative as you’d like!

Please go to Multicultural Night to sign-up to host a table and for more information about this exciting event!

Any questions?  Email Karine Otten at karineotten@gmail.com.  Looking forward to this exciting event!
