This summer I had the opportunity to walk through both Forest Road and Barnsdale with Dr. Chris Covino, new superintendent and Paul Timm. Paul is the Director of Education Safety at Allegion, is a board-certified Physical Security Professional (PSP) and the author of “School Security: How to Build and Strengthen a School Safety Program.” A formal security audit was conducted this summer and there are plans in the works for continuing to update security at all schools. The Board of Education will receive an update this month from Dr. Covino and when the official report is available it will be discussed at a later board meeting in September.

Message from Mr. Ontiveros

Happy Friday Roadrunner Families,

I hope the remaining days of summer break have been both relaxing and eventful. Last night, I had a chance to meet and welcome many of our new students along with their families during our New Student & Family Tours event. It was great to see our new 6th graders be examples of leadership as they guided the school tours. Our PTO was also in attendance to share the terrific things they do for both our students and our school community. Overall, it was the first of many successful collaborative events.

One thing I mentioned yesterday evening was how much we want your children to feel welcomed at Forest Road. We also want each family to know that you are a key partner in our students’ experience and success. All of us here are excited for the opportunities this school year brings and we look forward to working alongside each of you.

Enjoy the weekend!
