Dear D102 Families and Staff,
On January 7, 2025, the District was notified that some of its data was involved in a nationwide security breach affecting PowerSchool, our Student Information System (SIS). The breach occurred on December 22, 2024, and has impacted numerous school districts across the country, including 14,146 D102 students.
PowerSchool first became aware of the incident on December 28, 2024, and immediately took action by securing their systems, notifying law enforcement, and enlisting cybersecurity experts from CrowdStrike and Cyber Steward to investigate and mitigate the breach. PowerSchool has assured the District that they have taken all necessary steps to contain the incident and prevent further unauthorized access.
Types of Data Compromised
PowerSchool has informed us that the compromised data may include:
Student and family contact information
Student email addresses
Dates of birth
Staff email addresses and contact information
Types of Data NOT Compromised
PowerSchool has confirmed that the following types of data were not affected by the breach:
Social Security Numbers
Financial information
Student and teacher passwords

Although PowerSchool does not anticipate misuse of personal information, they are offering credit monitoring services for affected adults and identity protection services for impacted minors, in accordance with applicable regulations.
Once the investigation is complete, individual notifications will be sent by Powerschool to affected students, parents, and staff members with additional information and available resources.
