Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)

About FOIA
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a state statute (5 ILCS 140) governing the inspection of public records.

Submitting a FOIA Request
Any person who wishes to inspect and/or obtain copies of public records from School District 102 shall submit a written FOIA request to the District’s FOIA Officer.  The written request should specify with reasonable particularity which public records are sought.

Response to FOIA Request
The district will respond to non-commercial requests within five business days after receipt.  The response time to requests for commercial purposes will be within 21 business days after receipt.  In the event access to public records is denied, the requestor may request a review by the Public Access Counselor’s Office of the Illinois Attorney General.

Fee
The fee to provide records is $0.10 per page after the first fifty (50) black/white copied pages or $1.00 per disk.
