As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, it seems fitting to share some wonderful news for which I am very thankful. For those who may not know, in November of each year, US News and World Report releases its rankings of Illinois schools. The rankings break into several categories, including elementary and middle school.
All K-8 schools' rankings are based on their performance on state testing, and how well they prepare their students for high school.
This year, all D102 elementary schools ranked in the top 15% of Illinois' 1,953 elementary schools earning them Best Elementary School distinction. This recognition showcases their exceptional commitment to academic excellence. Congratulations to the dedicated staff at Congress Park, Cossitt, Forest Road, and Ogden for their impactful work in achieving these outstanding results!
Not to be outdone, Park Junior High earned a very impressive 19th out of 1,198 Illinois middle schools. This places Park Junior High in the top 2% of all middle schools state-wide. A heartfelt congratulations to the skilled and dedicated staff at Park.
So, what am I thankful for? Of course, it brings me joy to see that US News and World Report recognizes each of our schools as some of the best in the State. Yet, I take greater pride in leading a collection of Teachers, Paraprofessionals, Social Workers, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, School Nurses, Health Aides, Tech Aides, LRC Aides, Custodians, Maintenance, Drivers, building office staff, departmental staff, building and district Administrators. All this under a supportive and thoughtful Board of Education and in partnership with an active and engaged community.
I am thankful that we show up every day to provide all students with a place they belong and a bright academic future. I wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. #WeAreD102
