Congress Park Dolphin Newsletter

Dear Congress Park Community,

January is flying by! We continue to work together as a community to take care of each other and make Congress Park a place where all students are feeling safe, respected, and ready to learn.

Looking ahead, temperatures are forecast to be quite cold next week. Please ensure that your child comes to school equipped with the appropriate winter attire to stay warm and cozy during outdoor activities. We will follow our established guideline that outdoor activities will proceed unless the temperature falls below ten degrees with windchill.

There will be no school on Monday as we observe Martin Luther King Day. Please take this time to reflect on his legacy and engage in meaningful conversations with your family.

Mid-Year Progress Reports: Your child's Mid-Year Progress Report will be available through the Parent Portal on PowerSchool by 5pm on Friday, January 24th

As a reminder, your child's report card lists end-of-the-year standards for that particular grade or subject. It is expected that many students will not yet have mastered these end-of-the-year learning standards. Therefore, you can expect to see students listed as partially understanding standards.

As a reminder, the Mid-Year Progress Report lists end-of-the-year standards. It is expected that many students will not yet have mastered these end-of-the-year learning standards. Therefore, you can expect to see students listed as (2) - "approaching mastery" or even as (1) - "hav(ing) a partial understanding of the standard."

Curriculum Corner: The kindergarten dual students have been eagerly practicing a play on the book El mitón/The Mitten in Spanish. Each child is learning their lines, and different body movements for their parts. The students have enjoyed pretending to go inside of a mitten to stay “calientito/warm.” Their confidence in speaking in Spanish has grown as they continue to practice each day. The little actors are focused, but there's a lot of fun and joy as they learn their speaking parts and prepare to showcase their hard work in front of their classmates. It's a wonderful moment of teamwork and self-expression for these young performers.

Kind regards,

Amy Grieve

If you would like to sign your student(s) up for Rainbows, please view the information below.
