Congress Park Dolphin Newsletter

1.10.25

Dear Congress Park Community,

Happy New Year, families! We’re thrilled to dive into 2025 with excitement and a renewed focus on creating a safe, welcoming, and joyful learning environment for all our students.

We started the year by reminding all students about our Dolphin 3s: Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. These guiding principles help us work together to build a school community where everyone feels valued and supported.

This year, we’re also encouraging our students to focus on spreading JOY – through kind actions, uplifting words, and a positive attitude. Thank you for your continued partnership in making our school a wonderful place to learn and grow. Here’s to a joyful and successful 2025!

A Message from the Health Office: As we begin the new year, we’d like to remind families to notify the health office if your child needs medication at school—even for the simplest needs. Keeping us informed helps ensure the safety and well-being of all our students.

If your child requires medication during the school day, please contact us at cphealthoffice@dist102.k12.il.us. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us provide the best care possible!

Curriculum Corner: It is that time of year when we conduct another round of FastBridge, our universal reading and math screener, with our kindergarten students. FastBridge will give us an updated snapshot of your child’s early literacy and math skills compared to their peers across the nation. Information gathered this round will include skills such as word segmenting and decoding words, as well as number sequencing and decomposing (breaking apart numbers into smaller parts), among other skills. This screener continues to be only one piece of your child’s assessment portfolio. The scores will be available on the Student Assessment Report in the Parent Portal when it is released in February. You will be contacted if your child’s comprehensive profile indicates the need for any additional support.

Kind regards,

Amy Grieve

Rainbows is Back!

Dear Congress Park Parents,

Congress Park Elementary School is pleased to announce this month, January 2025, our Rainbows Program will again be offered during the school day during lunchtime.  The Rainbows Program is a support group for children who have experienced a change in their family system by the loss of a significant person in their life through separation, divorce, or death.  Most often that person is a parent, but it can be a sibling, grandparent, or other close relative or friend. If you would like to sign your student(s) up for Rainbows, please view the information below.

What? A peer support program for children who have a significant loss in their lives by either death, divorce or other painful transition.

Why? To provide children with an opportunity to meet new friends who have shared similar      experiences; to have trained caring teachers be present for the children while they sort through and understand their grief; and to help them come to a healthy acceptance of what has happened in their family.

When/Where? During the day at school, once per week during the lunch hour for 12 weeks.

How? If your child would benefit from such a program, please fill out the form below and return to his/her teacher by Thursday, January 23, 2025.
